Housing Initiative
Dylan's House exists to provide safe, affordable, and accessible housing for adults with Autism who are transitioning out of their traditional family environments. Our homes are thoughtfully designed to meet the unique needs of Autistic individuals, promoting independence, well-being, and the opportunity to live comfortably. We also offer a home repair program to assist residents with emergency repairs, including appliances, furnaces, and plumbing. Donations are accepted at any time to support our mission and the broader Autism community.
At Dylan’s House, our role is to provide safe, high-quality housing—we serve strictly as the landlord of our homes. We do not select or recommend individuals for placement. Instead, we work in close partnership with the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities and local service providers to ensure a fair, needs-based process. To be considered for housing, the first step is to connect with your Service and Support Administrator (SSA) through the county and confirm that an appropriate waiver is in place. Once that is established, the next step is to complete the Dylan’s House housing application. From there, all placements are coordinated collaboratively with the county and provider teams to best support individuals with the greatest need.
Education and Raising Awareness
This program aims to educate individuals about autism spectrum disorder and raise awareness in the community. Through informational events, Dylan's House provides valuable resources to help people better understand autism and how to support individuals with the condition. By increasing knowledge and promoting acceptance, the Education and Awareness program strives to create a more inclusive and understanding society for everyone.
Caregiver Grants
A grant program for caregivers of people with Autism is a valuable initiative that aims to support and empower those who provide essential care. Caregivers working with Autistic individuals that reside in a supported living environment will be eligible. Dylan’s House aims to reward and retain these hard working and dedicated caregivers. It also acknowledges the vital role that caregivers play in the lives of individuals with Autism. This is a challenging but rewarding career.
